7 Reasons Why Heat Exchangers Fail
As an experienced technician, I always make sure I inspect the firebox or heat exchanger inside the furnace. The reason why every good technician does this is to make sure the furnace is safely operating to factory specs. The manufacturer would never send out a cracked heat exchanger, so we want to identify to homeowners when we see something like a cracked heat exchanger.

Переглядів 2,4 тис.Рік тому
Many homeowners find south facing rooms are hotter than others during the day. This is often due to the orientation of the walls. South-facing walls tend to get warmer than north-facing ones, for example. The same is true for east and west-facing walls, depending on which side of the house the sun is on. This can be a problem for bedrooms, which are located on the south side of the house, as pe...

I created a calculator with some formulas that customers can use to play around with these numbers too. Watch this video if you keep trying to find the answer to this ...

I’m on the market for a new condenser. I have a 34 year old Trane for way back in 1990 that’s still running but needs a few pounds of R22. It popped a fuse at the end of last season but after putting in new ones it’s still running. Is is time for a replacement due to loss of r22 and age or should I try to get it filled?

It is only a theory that CFCs and hcfcs damage the ozone. Now it is realized by the scientific community that the ozone goes through cycles and is always changing. Now it is on climate change potential or some new b******* like that. It's all a scam to price the average American out of being able to cool themselves in hot weather. Air conditioning people should not allow this to be done to their customers. They do have control. But alas air conditioning people get rich off of the scam so there is no incentive to change. In my opinion it is immoral to allow this to take place

The yard guys cut the insulation from the thermostat wire at my house just enough to cause a problem last week. To be fair, the wire was already in pretty bad shape. I managed to find enough “good” wire to splice together for an immediate temporary fix. Luckily, it only blew the fuse so that I didn’t have to wait for a part to come in. I will be replacing the wire and protecting it as much as possible this week. It doesn’t take long at all for the sun to degrade the wire. My unit was installed in 2017, and the wire has been looking bad for a while. Thanks for sharing how to protect it!

I think most epa laws have no place in this. They keep increasing our standards while India and China dump lead in their rivers. The EPA is taking bribes from the HVAC manufacturers, i just know it. All this stuff is needed and keeps getting more expensive.

One other thing to consider on sizing for a unit is installation quality. I recently upsized mine from a 3T to a 3.5, primarily because the existing R-22 unit always struggled on very hot days, even when it was in perfect condition (full charge, clean coils, etc). On pulling the lineset I realized that all 35' of the scution line was un-insulated, and it had several pretty bad dings, dents and bends. Since it was in conduit in the foundation there wasn't really a way to diagnose or repair that prior to taking the old system out. I think the 1/2t will be okay, but a new, well installed 3 ton might have been marginally up to the task...

Nice video doing a neat job adding the safety switch. Just out of curiosity though why do you prefer to brake the Red wire where it would kill both power to the fan and the thermostat versus the yellow that will only stop the condenser outside and of course it will stop producing condensation while at the same time will allow home owner to run the fan through the thermostat until the technician arrives for the service call. What am I missing in my thinking here?
